YOUR Gallery

After some recent feedback I've decided to create a gallery. If you've built something based on ideas or plans in this site then send some pictures and text to tell everyone about it. There's no money. No promises. Just the opportunity to share ideas and experience.

I cannot promise to publish any entry and I will moderate the text and pictures. I also of course cannot take responsibility for anything that you provide.

With that in mind and you'd like to show what you've done then email gallery at backpacking hyphen lite dot co dot UK. (Not clickable due to spam).

Nick's Polaris Challenge Tent

Nick kicks things off with his variation on the Ultralight Tent Flysheet Not only did he make the tent he also made the poles and the pegs!!!! He's tweaked the design to improve it for mountain use (ironically some of the tweaks that are built into the Mk2 previewed here.

Anyway, nick has provides some pictures and text and so you read all about it here.

Helvellyn Sub-Zero and Ultralight at Easter

I

I've received some stuff from Mark Riley showing an ultralight solo micro tarp and a bivy bag as used at Easter 2010. As you can see it's pretty hardcore! Here he is tucked well into the tarp which creates a nice little air pocket which is reasonably draught free. This is also my favourite setup for in the mountains where things can get a little breezy. It's a great way to wake up to the stars - unless the wind changes. Anyway Mark has written some words and provided some pictures and you can read it here.

Bob's Solo Micro Tarp Mk2

In the same way that Nick (above) modified a design to be better for him, bob's also modified the solo micro tarp design and I think others will find it interesting.

Solo Micro Tarp Mk 2

Bob's design feature is to integrate a pole into one side of the tarp. By changing the pegging out out point for the guyline this now becomes self-supporting. By comparing this photo to Mark's above you can see what a difference it makes. You can read more about it here.
