Snugpak Travelpak Lite Review

Overview

Snugpak Travelpak Lite

Snugpak produce many sleeping bags in various guises. This bag (which is also available in military versions) is variously described as a summer or jungle bag. It is comfort rated to +7°C.

The bag is a typical good quality lightweight mummy bag with a hood closure, a tactel inner (very comfortable) and a ripstop pertex outer. The bag also features an internal pocket for a wallet and external tie points.

Although the bag officially weighs 700g the stuff-sack will add another 50g to this and so a working weight is 650g.

Outdoor Testing

I have used this bag in the height of an English summer and in autumn. I have used it inside a tent and inside a bivy bag in the hills. For me, a large 6 footer it feels a comfortable size.

The Snugpak bags seem to consistently use fabrics that feel very comfortable next to the skin and this makes a big difference to the overall comfort of the bag. I have found this bag to be comfortable for me in temperatures between 14°C (fully clothed in a bivi bag) and 25°C (very little clothing, in a tent).

Naturally, there is not a lot of insulation in this bag and that makes it very sensitive to draughts. So, outside of the height of summer (or indoors on sleepovers) I have found that this bag is best used with some sort of bivy bag outer.

Long-term Conclusions

I do like this bag in the summer because it weighs so little. The packed size is tiny and as a result it can easily fit into my 25L OMM daysack.

For a summer night in the hills all I need is this sleeping bag, a small bivi bag and some sort of foam or inflateable mat. All of this will fit easily into a 25L sack together with supplies. What more could you want?
